PIL Scripts are individual scripts used to compliment or enhance the Pirch IRC client. PIL Scripts can be used for a great number of things including automating certain tasks, manipulating text, or writing a custom interface for IRC events.

PIL is covered in greater detail in Pirch's helpfile. You can access this information quickly from within Pirch by typing this command:

/? introduction to pil

There are two methods of adding PIL scripts to aliases, use whichever is easiest for you.

Method 1: The /addpil command - This will load the PIL into aliases without needing to open the alias window.

/addpil c:\path\to\file.pil

Method 2: From the alias window -

Click the "Alias" button on Pirch's main toolbar. From the Alias window, click "Add Pil", or right-click in the alias list and select "Add Pil". Browse to the pil file you want to install and select it. Click OK and then Save. Your PIL should now be installed.

PIL scripts usually supply instructions for further setup, either as a "readme" file or within the PIL itself. If you download a PIL as an archive (.zip) file, check the directory for any files which may give instructions on usage or further installation. If no files are present, hilight the alias name in the alias list. In the editor window you should see some info at the top of the script itself.

You can submit your PIL script for review by sending it to jellowe@pirchworld.com or by sending me the URL to download, or post the URL on the message forum.
