When Christian Davies, executive creative director of the Americas for FITCH, received a call from one of the partners at Fixtures Living, the first thing he heard was “I want to reinvent a category.” It was a clear indication that this wouldn’t be a run-of-the-mill kitchen and bath showroom project.

Fixtures Living, which opened six months ago, stands out for its try-before-you-buy concept. Most things are operational for testing: the sinks and tubs, the stoves and stone “hearth” ovens, the 15 shower heads in the bath Sanctuary. (Lather up and test them in private, with a reservation.) On the patio, working beer taps are placed strategically under the big screens.
